Although the rate was higher than I paid before, I love this hotel. It is quiet and the rooms are very spacious. I have stayed here three times and never had any problems. This stay was for only one night and I had a huge room with two double beds and a sofa bed. It made me wish I was staying for more nights. The restuarant did not have a great selection of food and I had to send my Cosmo back (first try was very watery) but the wait staff was wonderful. Again the hotel is fabulous, you may just want to eat somewhere else.

So when we first got there our 2nd party checked in to a room that did not have the kitchen they paid for in the reservation. The front desk finally moved them the next day after 3 different conversations with the "manager". WIFI is not free like it is at the Starbucks down the block, but is $* for 4 days. Ridiculous! The room we had was petite! The beds were stiff and bouncy, I could feel my bedmates EVERY move. There was construction going on next door. One night we came back to a distinct lacker smell throughout our room. We opened the window for air and had to leave it open. It was 40 degrees, with a thunder storm going on outside! But the smell was too bad to close it. When asked, the night manager could not provide a bill the day before checkout (for our guest leaving early the next day). He said they would be printed at 3am. He did however give us an estimate on a second request. Only one employee smiled everytime we came in and gave us excellent suggestions for meals. He was great. But compared to all the very friendly people in DC that we found on the subway, street, or otherwise the staff at the Beacon was somewhat rude and disinterested in our comfort. Our friends stayed in the Quality Inn and it far surpassed the Beacon. I would never stay here again.

I have never written a review for a hotel before but this was SO bad I simply must comment on it. I checked in for four nights, went up to the room, took a look (and a smell), went down and checked out. We moved to a Westin near by, that was cheaper and definitely a lot cleaner. The move cost us a night's stay but what we saw there was really unbearable for four night. I really would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

The hotel was good but does not worth the price. The hotel does not even have a free Wi-Fi, they ask $* for accessing the Wi-Fi for 24 hours at this day and age where its a basic facility for travelers.
